AFG Women's Health — Congratulations to Madeleine Bernet on winning the Jean Purdy Award!
On the ESHRE Annual Meeting 2026 in London Madeleine Bernet, co-president of AFG Women's Health, had the honor of presenting her research and exchanging ideas with leading international experts in reproductive medicine.
A special highlight of the conference was the presentation of the Jean Purdy Award. Madeleine Bernet is the first nursing researcher from Switzerland to receive this prestigious award! The prize recognizes outstanding contributions to nursing and midwifery research in reproductive medicine. It honors Jean Purdy, a British nurse and clinical embryologist whose pioneering work in this field was instrumental. Although her contributions were long overlooked, she is now rightly recognized as one of the pioneers of reproductive medicine.
This award is not only a great honor for Madeleine Bernet’s personal research work, but it also underscores the growing importance of nursing science in reproductive medicine and interdisciplinary health services research in Switzerland.
The VfP extends its warmest congratulations to Madeleine Bernet on this tremendous achievement! We wish her continued joy and success in her research and in translating scientific findings into clinical practice, education, and health policy.

Calls and announcements
A forward-looking healthcare model is taking shape: In Tyrol and Carinthia, the first steps have been taken to implement pilot projects for nursing and therapy practices. Further negotiations and preparations are underway, and the rollout is scheduled for 2027.
The ÖGKV has been advocating for this step for years and is supporting its implementation. Nursing and therapy practices strengthen local care, make better use of the skills of healthcare professionals, and open up new opportunities for caregivers to apply their expertise independently. At the same time, the burden on medical practices and hospitals is noticeably reduced—a win for everyone involved.

How can evidence-based interventions be effectively implemented in practice? The Swiss Implementation Science Network IMPACT at the University of Basel invites you to a webinar titled “On the Optimization of Multilevel Adaptive Implementation Strategies (MAISYs).”
Our guest is Associate Professor Daniel Almirall, PhD, a statistician and intervention researcher. He will demonstrate how multistage adaptive implementation strategies (MAISYs) can be optimized to improve the implementation of evidence-based interventions in healthcare.
