15 Years of AFG Spitex Care!
In early June, we celebrated the 15th anniversary of AFG Spitex Care in Olten.
Fifteen years ago, the role of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in home health care was still largely uncharted territory. One of the AFG’s first projects was to develop a job description for the APN in home health care—an important pioneering step at the time.
Today, the role of the APN in outpatient care is well established. We are proud that many of our members work as APNs in home health care and are actively shaping the future of professional nursing. Together, we want to help ensure that the APN role continues to be strengthened in home health care and is provided with the necessary regulatory framework.
The fact that the AFG has reached this point today, with 57 members, is thanks to the dedication of many people over the past 15 years. An anniversary is therefore also a good opportunity to say thank you. Many thanks to the founding members, to all past presidents, to all former and current members of the AFG, and to the VFP for their long-standing support and cooperation.

EmGv Funding Program: Awarding of Financial Assistance
As part of the EmGv funding program—Efficiency in Primary Health Care—the federal government provides financial assistance for projects in professional practice and education that contribute to the further development of efficient primary health care.
Funding is provided in particular for projects that strengthen interprofessional collaboration and help optimize and streamline care for long-term patients. The program thus also offers an interesting opportunity for nursing-related projects to implement innovative approaches in practice, education, or care development and to provide scientific support for them.
A total of just under 8 million Swiss francs is available. Project proposals can be submitted by September 11, 2026.
Further information on the funding program and on submitting project proposals can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH): EmGv Funding Program – Awarding of Grants

Of particular interest is the A Look Back at the 2026 ÖGKV Congress in Graz under the theme “Courage Meets Vision – Shaping Nursing.” The topics discussed there—ranging from nursing policy to digitalization and competency development—show just how significantly professional nursing can help shape the future of health care.
More Thought-Provoking Reading The ÖGKV covers topics such as EHDS and health data, sustainability in healthcare, and the Care-on-Air podcast.
