CIRRNET reports show that problems can arise in the care of patients with central venous catheters (CVC) in wards and/or in diagnostic and therapeutic functional areas (e.g. radiology, endoscopy, dialysis) which endanger patient safety. In Quick Alert No. 47 of Patient Safety Switzerland, the VFP helped to develop new recommendations on the subject.
